INTRODUCTION

Thank you for your enquiry , please find below the information you need  to join us free of charge.

The Internet is a World Wide network of computers linked together by 'phone  and satellite. Millions browse the system and thousands more join the system  every day. It is estimated that one quarter of the World's population have  access to the Internet.

Craft*folk Worldwide has been set up by Howard Potter and his colleagues at  Craft*folk to take advantage of the electronic opportunities the Internet  provides and to move the sale of traditional craft products away from just  Craft Fairs. Our site, www.craftfolkww.com has been set up to enable it to  be found by all the major search engines, and is very user friendly. The Internet  will never take away the important one-to-one contact of a good craft fair,  the aim is to generate a consistent income for all concerned. Craft*folK Worldwide  will enable you to have your own shop window on the world in the ever expanding  electronic market.

Payment is easy through a secure credit card site. The Banks have set up a  coding system by which credit card information can be sent from one computer  to the next and no one has the opportunity of accessing any of the confidential  details. Craft*folK Worldwide will process the payments and then at the end  of each month you will receive a cheque for sales made.

WHAT DO I GET?

You will get a specially designed page which will, if you want, tell a little  about yourself and a lot about the craft you produce. The page will list your  prices and show samples of your work. If you undertake commissioned work then  details will be included within the page. If the customer wants to purchase  something from the page all they have to do is fill in the credit card order  provided for them on the screen. Craft*folK Worldwide will then receive the  order electronically and mail it on to you. It is then your responsibility  to dispatch the order to the customer.

WHAT IS THIS GOING TO COST?

There is NO CHARGE for setting up your page. However,  when Craft*folK Worldwide process an order on your behalf via the credit card  facility, then a 15% commission fee will be charged, plus 5% for the secure  credit card facility. This will automatically be taken from your monthly monies  due so we suggest that this fee should be reflected in your pricing structure.

WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

You don't need to have a computer as Craft*folK Worldwide will  process everything on your behalf. It will be expected that all goods are  produced by yourselves and that they conform to all trading standards. It  is very important to work out the price of your craft product to include postage  and packaging to UK, Europe and the Rest of the World. Your local Post Office  will be only too pleased to help you with this. You will need to ensure that  the packaging is suitable for what you need to send. You will also need to  have good quality and, if possible, professionally produced photographs of  your products. The better the quality, the better they will look. Craft*folK  Worldwide will not accept poor quality images as it will only be to the detriment  of the site as a whole.

To allow Craft*folK Worldwide to set up and design your craft  page, please forward the following details:

Photographs of your craft product/s.
Photograph of yourself, if you wish!
200 word synopsis about yourself and your craft, if you wish!
Details and description of your craft product/s.
Price per item including postage and packaging for:
(1) UK (2) Europe (3) Rest of the World

Once your site has been set up we will send you a printed copy  of your site for your written approval, and details of how to view your site  before it is linked into Craft*folK Worldwide. At that time you may make any  alterations or amendments you feel are necessary.

CHECK LIST

This is a short check list of the things that you must prepare  for before committing yourselves to the Internet site.

 1. If required, check that the items you are offering for sale  fulfill all trading standards requirements. Those of you who may have been  visited by local Trading Standards officials or visited them will know how  helpful they can be. Trading Standards can be found at your local Council  Offices.

 2. If required, check with your Post Office about the packaging  for your product, it must arrive at its destination in one piece.

 3. Check the cost of posting to various world wide destinations.  It may work out that some traditional items that you sell may not be cost  effective to send. Only include on your site those that are worthwhile. You  need to have a UK, Europe and a rest of the World price. Although it is recommended  that you use the Post Office for most items, for larger bulky items always  check other couriers for best service and price.

Just remember this will cost you nothing but a bit of your time  and for novice friendly advice please call us on 02920/514732 or just visit  our site www.craftfolkww.com
